AirAsia Japan, the budget airline that will operate under the name of Vanilla Air from Nov. 1, said Monday it will launch beginning in December a total of four routes from Narita near Tokyo, including two international services.

Vanilla Air will launch Narita-Taipei and Narita-Okinawa routes on Dec. 20, and services connecting Narita with Sapporo on Jan. 29 and with Seoul on March 1, it said.

"We will expand our routes, connecting with resort cities including Guam, Saipan and Indonesia down the road," President Tomonori Ishii told at a press conference in Tokyo.

AirAsia Japan, which is wholly owned by ANA Holdings Inc., decided to change its name after dissolving its joint venture with Malaysia's AirAsia Bhd. due to differences of opinion over cost management.

The company now aims to focus more on international flights connecting its base Narita airport with tourist destinations overseas.

One-way tickets for domestic routes will be available from 5,500 yen and for international routes from 8,000 yen, the company added.
