U.S. serviceman arrested for alleged drunken driving in Okinawa

A U.S. serviceman was arrested Sunday for alleged drunken driving in Okinawa Prefecture, police said.

Christopher Hardy, a 22-year-old officer at the U.S. Kadena Air Base in the prefecture, was five times over the alcohol limit, the police said, citing a respiratory test.

The incident came to light after a car Hardy was driving traveled in the wrong lane and crashed into a taxi around 8:15 a.m. in the village of Kita-Nakagusuku.

Neither Hardy nor the taxi driver was hurt.
