South Korea and the United States will begin two annual joint military exercises on Feb. 24, their militaries said Monday.
The Combined Forces Command said Key Resolve, a command post exercise, will be held through March 6, while Foal Eagle, a field training exercise, will be held through April 18.
North Korea has demanded that the exercises be cancelled, calling them a rehearsal for invasion. South Korea and the United States insist the exercises are defensive in nature.
