South Korea's top military official said Seoul is open to promoting security cooperation with Tokyo regardless of their conflicting views on wartime history, given the need to address security threats from North Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported Tuesday.
Adm. Choi Yun Hee told reporters Monday during his visit to Washington that a stronger trilateral partnership between Seoul, Washington and Tokyo is needed on the security front.
"North Korea's threats always exist and it's hard to predict the timing and type of its provocations," Choi said, adding the South Korean military will maintain firm combat readiness.
