GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Mexican authorities on Wednesday arrested a US man wanted over the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Los Angeles last month.
“I’m very happy that we caught this trash,” Alfredo Arenas, commander of the Baja California state police fugitive squad, was quoted as saying.
“I always make a point to capture people that have sex with children. Because if given the opportunity, they will rape a Mexican child.”
FBI agents traveled to the border to collect Summers on Wednesday.
Summers faces dozens of charges for a range of offenses, including kidnapping, burglary and sex assault.
His suspected accomplice, Daniel Martinez, is already in custody.
The men have been accused of breaking into the girl’s home in Northbridge on March 27 and kidnapping her.
She was found about 12 hours later near a Starbucks in Woodland Hills, several miles from her home. She was scratched, bruised and barefoot.
