Rick Santorum is temporarily leaving New Hampshire for South Carolina in the hopes his socially conservative platform will gain more support ahead of South Carolina primary on Jan. 21, USA Today reported.

Santorum headed to Greenville, S.C. this morning and is planning to accept an endorsement of prominent evangelical Gary Bauer. Santorum will return to New Hampshire later today, however.

Santorum is trailing behind Romney’s 30 percent lead in South Carolina at 19 percent, according to a poll by Public Policy Polling.
