She was still in the hospital late Sunday, although her father said she was recovering after a rough three days, the Associated Press reported. According to the candidate, she is in a Virginia hospital, despite a statement from his campaign saying she was staying in Philadelphia.

"I know how she got through it," Santorum said during a tele-town hall in Minnesota on Sunday, USA Today reported. "It was with the hands of these doctors and the prayers that guided those hands."

Santorum, former senator of Pennsylvania, will continue campaigning on Monday, although he won’t be in Florida, where the primary will be held on Tuesday. He canceled his appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday and a stop at a Miami church, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. He was also expected to make stops in Sarasota and Punta Gorda, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Santorum’s eldest daughter, Elizabeth, said her father took time off the campaign trail because Bella "got sick and right now she's in the hospital and we're hoping and praying she will be better soon,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"She’s our little angel,” Santorum said while in Iowa, the Chicago Tribune reported. “That’s Isabella Maria. Isabella Maria, we don’t take her out in crowds. She’s — has a disability. She has a disability that has, according to the records, the statistics, a 1 percent chance of survival after one year. She is three-and-a-half years old.”
