The Grammy Awards honored Whiney Houston late Sunday as fans gathered to mourn outside the Los Angeles hotel where her body was found.

Grammy host LL Cool J opened the telecast with a prayer, and the show aired a short video clip of I Will Always Love You, her most popular hit. Jennifer Hudson was slated to sing a tribute to the 48-year-old Houston later in the show.

“It’s too fresh in everyone’s memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Whitney’s remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years,” Ken Ehrlich, the show’s executive producer, told the LA Times.

The Associated Press reported that Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Houston, has been released from a Los Angeles hospital today. She was said to be suffering from anxiety, but was "awake and alert" when paramedics arrived this morning.

The 18-year-old was taken by ambulance at around 10:30 a.m. from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where her mother was found dead Saturday afternoon.

The New York Times said an autopsy was completed on Houston's body, but no word was released on a cause of death. Other reports surfaced that said Houston was found in the bathtub, and pills were found in the room. TMZ speculated she may have drowned after falling unconscious.

In the meantime, fans built an impromptu shrine outside the hotel where Houston died about 4 p.m. local time on Saturday.

Houston is still among pop music’s top-selling artists and holds an astounding 415 awards, according to Guinness World Records, the LA Times said.

Here are five of the most memorable Houston songs:

1. I Will Always Love You

Her most recognizable title, I Will Always Love You spent 14 weeks at No. 1 in 1992. Originally recorded by Dolly Parton, Houston recorded it for The Bodyguard, a movie she starred in with Kevin Costner.

2. I Wanna Dance With Somebody

The first single off her second album, I Wanna Dance With Somebody reached No. 1 in 1987, and won a Grammy and an American Music Award.

3. So Emotional

Houston’s sixth straight No. 1 song, it was also one of 1987’s biggest club hits.

4. I’m Your Baby Tonight

The title track from the album of the same name, Houston released her third studio album in September 1991. I’m Your Baby Tonight gave Houston eight chart-topping singles.

5. How Will I Know

Houston capitalized on How Will I Know after Janet Jackson passed on the song. It became a worldwide hit and won an MTV Video Award for best female video in 1986.
