The bile. The backbiting. The desperation. All forgotten?

Just hours after saying front-runner Mitt Romney was the “worst Republican” to pit against President Barack Obama, GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum said today he would not rule out being Romney’s running mate in the general election.

Santorum appeared on the Christian Broadcasting Network:

Presenter David Brody asks Santorum if he would consider being the veep on a Romney ticket in November.

Santorum says: “Of course. I mean, look. I would do in this race as I always say, this is the most important race in our country's history. I'm going to do everything I can. I'm doing everything I can.”

Brody follows up: “So you’re keeping your options open?”

“I'll do whatever is necessary to help our country,” Santorum answers.

Santorum has sought to tarnish Romney as the original creator of ObamaCare, the sobriquet given to the 2010 Affordable Care Act. The landmark legislation that is currently under review by the US Supreme Court is said to have been modeled on a system created by Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts. Santorum has said the Act's repeal is among his primary goals.

Santorum continued this line of attack today, speaking at a campaign event outside the courthouse itself, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
