Two people were killed and 12 others were injured when gunmen opened fire on mourners outside a Miami funeral home on Friday, leaving a scene that one witness described as "a war zone," reported The Washington Post. The shooting happened at about 9:35 p.m. as services were taking place at the Funeraria Latina Emanuel, about 10 miles north of the city's downtown.

One of the victims died at the scene while the other succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. Their identities were not immediately released, but authorities did say they were 43 and 27 years old, according to CNN. Those wounded included a 5-year-old girl, who was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and was listed in stable condition today.

The funeral was for Morvin Andre, 21, of North Miami, who was buried Saturday morning at Southern Memorial Park next to the funeral home, reported The Miami Herald. Andre was killed March 16 after he tried to jump 22-and-a-half feet from the fourth floor of the Aventura Mall parking garage. He had been in pursuit by Bloomingdale’s loss prevention employees. When Andre fell he landed on his feet, but then fell back and hit his head. His death was ruled a suicide.

The Miami Herald also reported that the shooting broke out because of a dispute between gang members.
