Gawker mole: Fox says it has found the spy hired to dish from the inside

The News Corp channel says it knows who this person is, just a day after the first post, and is considering legal action.

Fox News says it has smoked out the so-called “mole” hired by the media website Gawker, the very day after the anonymous News Corp staffer published his/her first column lambasting the right-wing cable news broadcaster, according to Mediaite.

The author of the first column said yesterday that he or she had felt trapped at the station, hoping at first to seek other jobs only to find himself or herself blacklisted.

Mediaite says a Fox spokesperson said the company was now aware of the author’s identity.

“We found the person and we’re exploring legal options at this time,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Gawker has not yet responded to a request for comment from Politico, columnist Dylan Byers said.

The author of the post said he or she planned to leave the station but intended to be as destructive as possible in doing so, drawing a comparison to Bruce Willis’s character in the Die Hard movies.

“And I am leaving. Sooner rather than later, I'm guessing. But I can't just leave quietly, can I? Where's the fun in that? So I'm John McClane-ing this shit. I'm inside the building, crawling through the air vents, gathering intel, and passing it along to Carl Winslow,” the author wrote.
