A US Airways jetliner flying from Paris to Charlotte, N.C., was diverted after a passenger announced she had a surgically implanted device. Two F-15 fighters were scrambled to escort the plane.
The Associated Press reported a passenger announced she had a surgically implanted device, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Two F-15 fighters were scrambled to escort the plane, according to a spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The Transportation Security Administration told CBS News that a disruptive female passenger from the flight is in custody. Officials said that the passenger did not pose a threat to the flight.
The Boeing 767 with 179 passengers and nine crew members landed around noon at Bangor International Airport, US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie told the AP.
ABC News wrote that FBI agents met the plane at the gate and interviewed the female who was said to be "acting suspiciously."
