Police located the mother today of three abandoned children found in a rundown Portland shed late Wednesday, but aren’t releasing any further details.

A neighbor called 911 on Thursday saying he heard voices coming from the backyard shed of an abandoned home, sparking a manhunt for the children’s parents.

“The mother of the missing children has been located and we thank everyone who helped with information,” a police press release said. “We do not need any additional tips. There will be no more details released about this case as it is still under investigation.”

When police arrived, they spoke to several homeless people on the premises, who said a woman dropped the children off Wednesday night.

The youngest girl is believed to be between 8 and 15 months old, police said.

The middle child, also a girl, is about 2 while police believe the oldest boy is 3.

They were described as olive skinned with dark hair and brown eyes.

Department of Health Services workers took the three into custody as police searched for their parents.

Neighbors watched as police carried the youngsters to safety, The Associated Press reported.

“They were sure little cuties,” Judy Baxter told the AP. “It’s just so sad for the kids. … I won’t tell you what they need to do to (the mother).”

The home’s owner said he was in the midst of repairing it, KATU TV reported.

He told the TV station he didn’t notice anyone living on the property when he was there last week.
