A gunman killed three and wounded two others at a café in Seattle’s University District today, the Associated Press reported. The shooter, described by police as a white man in his 30s with brown hair and a goatee or beard, fled the scene with his gun. The AP and USA Today are now reporting police have found the shooter and that he has shot himself, possibly in the head. His condition is still unclear.

Police said the gunman walked into Cafe Racer Espresso around 11 a.m. and began firing, the Seattle Times reported.

Two victims died at the scene and the third died from their injuries at Harborview Medical Center a short while later, NPR affiliate KPLU reported. The two wounded victims are in serious condition, the AP reported.

Students at nearby Roosevelt High were on official lockdown with all the lights turned off, while students at Eckstein Middle School and Green Lake Elementary, slightly further away, had locked their doors and were keeping students inside, the Seattle Times reported.

According to the AP, today’s incident is the latest in a string of shootings in Seattle.

Last Thursday, a 43-year-old software developer was killed by a stray bullet that hit him as he drove down a Seattle street in a car with his family, the AP reported. In April, a 21-year-old aspiring chef died after being shot in an apparently random drive-by shooting.

And while police searched for the Café Racer Espresso shooter today, SWAT officers, police dogs and uniformed patrolmen were also hunting for a gunman who killed a woman in a carjacking attempt near Seattle’s Town Hall this morning, the Seattle Times reported.

Witnesses of the carjacking incident described the shooter as a white man in his 30s, KPLU reported. It is not yet known if the two incidents are related.
