Republican Mitt Romney denied a report that Rubio was not on his short list.
Republican Mitt Romney said he was vetting Florida Senator Marco Rubio as a potential vice presidential running mate, denying a report that Rubio was not being seriously considered, according to Reuters.
"The story was entirely false, Marco Rubio is being thoroughly vetted as part of our process," Romney told reporters on a campaign stop in Holland, Michigan, Reuters reported.

Romney's comments followed an ABC News story that said Rubio was out of the running. Rubio who is Cuban-American could help Romney with the Latino vote.
Ruling him out as even a potential candidate would risk further alienating Latinos who are unhappy with Romney's anti-immigration position.
"There are only two people in this country who know who are being vetted and who are not, and that's Beth Myers and myself, " he said, as reported by CBS News. "I know Beth well. She doesn't talk to anybody. The story was entirely false. Marco Rubio is being thoroughly vetted as part of our process."
