Boston fireworks and fun: What does America mean to you? (VIDEO)

No thunderstorm could knock Boston down. Through lightning, rain and threats of cancellation, the Independence Day celebrations continued.

Independence Day has a way of bringing out everyone's American pride.

Every 4th of July, we reach deep into our closet to find anything red, white or blue (or a combination of the three) to help get into the spirit. We spend the day barbecuing with family and friends, declare our love for our country, wave miniature flags, and wait for the night sky to light up with fireworks.

But what does it really all mean?

GlobalPost went over to the Charles River Esplanade for the Boston, Mass., 4th of July celebrations to ask people one question: What does America mean to you?
