Fastest texter in America wins $50,000

Fastest texter in US is 16-year-old Austin Wierschke, who takes top spot for second year in a row along with a prize of $50,000.

OMG! The fastest texter in America is a 17-year-old boy.

CBS News reported Austin Wierschke has won the LG U.S. National Texting Competition for the second year in a row, along with $50,000.

The Los Angeles Times explained that competitors included, runner up Brianna Hendrickson, who won in 2010.

The eleven contestants met in New York's Times Square to compete on speed, accuracy and dexterity said CBS.

In order to win, the group had to text while blind-folded, then with hands behind their backs and Text Blitz, where "contestants had to copy phrases as fast as possible."
