Baltimore Police say at 10:45 a.m. one Parry Hall High School student was shot. The suspect, also a student, is in custody, WJZ-TV reports.

“It sounded like a fight against the locker with all the banging," said Justin Spencer, a student. "I heard screaming and the teachers told everybody to stay calm… it was crazy. When all the teachers started running to the classrooms and locking the doors and then on the speaker we heard the teachers saying lockdown, lockdown, this is not a drill we need everyone to stay in the classrooms.”

A guidance counselor reportedly tackled the gunman and disarmed him, the Associated Press reported. The shooting occurred in the school's cafeteria.

A student witness told WJZ-TV a similar story.

"I saw the kid shooting then the teacher tackled him and the first row started running, then the second run, then everyone was running,” said Gerald Roman, a Perry Hall student.

The suspect was immediately apprehended.

Perry Hall's estimated 2,300 students were evacuated to a nearby mall, according to Business Insider

The unnamed victim, a 17-year-old male student, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He is in critical condition, according to the Associated Press

According to WUSA-TV, parents indicate the incident may have stemmed from a threat on Facebook and that bullying may be involved.
