For the second time in as many days, a fan has died after falling at an American sports stadium.

On Friday just before midnight, Isaac Grub died in hospital from injuries he sustained after falling 35 feet while watching a football game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta earlier that evening.

The 20-year-old Tennessee man was watching University of Tennessee play North Carolina State in a US college football game.

He fell from the first row of the upper deck onto another fan in the section below.

“Tennessee had scored a touchdown — I believe it was the second,” fan William Coates told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “It looked like [the man who fell] was doing a fist pump, and then he was gone over the top.”

The second fan, who wasn’t identified, was taken to hospital and released, The Associated Press reported.

More than 55,500 people watched the game.

On Thursday in Houston, Jonathan Kelly died after he fell 60 feet at Reliant Stadium.

He was there to watch the Houston Texans play a preseason NFL game.

There’s evidence he was trying to slide down an escalator railing.

“Basically we’re going to make sure the other equipment is working,” Reliant Stadium general manager Mark Miller told KPRC Houston. “It’s going to be shut down and put out of service until the technicians have gone through everything and inspected everything.”
