A three-month-old baby was mauled to death at a Texas home.
A baby boy died after being mauled by the family pit bull while police were outside the home speaking to his parent's about a domestic dispute.
Fox affiliate KDFW reported Rayden Bruce, aged three months, died on Monday night in hospital, a few hours after the vicious attack.
“I know they’ve got to be devastated,” neighbor Jessica Hale told the TV station.
Hale said the baby’s mother, Jessica Oxner, had been worried the animal was too aggressive.
The New York Daily News said police were at the house investigating a domestic dispute when the attacked happened.
Oxner, who had moved out of the home a few days earlier, had been arguing with the baby’s father, Barnett Bruce, according to Commander Cindy Aaron, of the Burleson Police Department.
She was visiting on Monday when the situation became tense and turned physical.
“The officer was waiting for them to finish their statements and heard a commotion, saw [Bruce’s father] run out of the room and then coming out with the baby in his arms,” Aaron told KDFW.
Animal control officials confirmed there had been two previous incidents involving the dog, including an attack last year in which Brody bit a person on the ankle while on a leash.
Investigations are continuing and charges could be laid.
