Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, will be guest-hosting ABC's "Good Morning America" on Wednesday next week.

With the election just weeks away, The Hollywood Reporter said ABC News is also in discussions with first lady Michelle Obama about co-hosting GMA.

Romney will join George Stephanopoulos and be taking co-anchor Robin Roberts' place for the day.

The appearance was booked before the presidential debate, which took place on Wednesday and was largely viewed as a win for Mitt Romney.

Roberts is currently on extended medical leave, Reuters noted.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that Ann Romney reached out to Roberts:

Romney, who has battled multiple sclerosis and underwent a lumpectomy in 2008, reached out to Roberts on Twitter following Roberts' on-air goodbye from GMA for medical leave. "Keep on fighting," the wife of the Republican presidential nominee wrote. "We all stand with you!"

Reuters noted that both Ann Romney and Michelle Obama have made frequent television appearances during the 2012 campaign, with Romney appearing on Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show" last month and Obama stopping by "The View," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," and "Late Show with David Letterman."

Other substitutes for Roberts, who had a bone marrow transplant last month, have included Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Colbert and the cast of "Modern Family," according to the Associated Press.

GMA recently overtook NBC's "Today," as the morning ratings leader, unseating the NBC program after nearly 20 years at the top, according to The New York Times.
