In the latest twist in the Petraeus affair, reports that both Gen. John Allen and Ret. Gen. David Petraeus helped Tampa socialite Jill Kelley's sister in her divorce custody battle.

The New York Post reported both men intervened in Natalie Khawam's bitter custody battle with her ex-husband over their 4-year-old son.

In court documents obtained by the Post, both men vouched for Kelley's sister. "Petraeus claimed to know Khawan "through our friendship with Dr. and Mrs. Scott Kelley," while Allen said they met through military functions.

The attached letters helped support Khawam's case that she was able to "appropriately parent the child" at the trial, according to the Post.

Khawan apparently name dropped two other heavy-weights in her defense: Sen. John Kerry, who is now being considered for US Secretary of Defense and Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.

On Monday, it was revealed that Allen, a four-star general in Afghanistan, exchanged tens of thousands of pages of emails with Kelley, as GlobalPost reported.

Kelley went to the FBI after she received anonymous, threatening e-mails from David Petraeus' biographer Paula Broadwell, who it turns out was having an affair with the former CIA director.
