Nanny Yoselyn Ortega, 50, pleads not guilty to murdering Lulu, Leo Krim.
Yoselyn Ortega, the 50-year-old nanny accused of killing the two young Krim children, pleaded not guilty this morning in New York City.
Handcuffed to her hospital bed, Ortega’s lawyer entered the plea during a rare court proceeding held inside New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, according to Reuters account of a pool report from the hearing.
Ortega faces first- and second-degree murder charges in the deaths of 6-year-old Lucia (Lulu) and Leo Krim, who was days from celebrating his second birthday when he died.
The nanny remains hospitalized recovering from self-inflicted stab wounds following the October 25 incident inside the Krim’s posh Upper West Side apartment.
Ortega’s next court date is January 16, The Associated Press reported.
