A farming family from Missouri has been revealed as holding one of two lucky tickets in the record $588million Powerball jackpot.

Mark Hill, 52, a father-of-four from Dearborn, Missouri made the announcement on his Facebook page: "We are truly blessed... we were lucky winners of the powerball!", he wrote, according to News Press Now.

Hill and his wife, Cindy, have three adult sons, one of whom served in Afghanistan. They also have a six-year-old daughter, who they adopted from China, as well as grandchildren.

Family members said Hill bought $10 worth of tickets from a Trex Mart gas station in Dearborn, a town of 500 people, and only checked the numbers on Thursday.

The store clerk at Trex Mart, Kelly Blount, said that she was in shock when she heard the news, the Kansas City Star reported.

“It’s been so exciting that I’ve been shaking all morning,” she said.

Lottery officials are yet to officially verify Hill winner but will hold a press conference in Dearborn this morning. They will also give further details of the mystery Arizona ticket holder, the Associated Press reported.

Hill will split the record jackpot with the Arizona winner and each will receive an estimated $385 million before taxes if they take the prize as a lump sum, according to Reuters.

The winning numbers for the jackpot were 5, 23, 16, 22 and 29. The Powerball was 6.

Lottery officials said an additional 8,924,123 players won smaller prizes including Match 5 Winners, who get $1 million prizes.

"There were 58 winners of $1 million and there were eight winners of $2 million. So a total of $74 million," said Chuck Strutt, Director of the Multi-State Lottery Association.

CNN reported the prize for the lottery ballooned to historic levels this week after the jackpot failed to go off 16 times.

Wednesday's prize, held in 42 states, the US Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia, was the largest in Powerball history and the second-largest top prize in US lottery history.
