Disgraced former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is back in the political game.

According to CNN, Sanford is planning to run for the Congressional seat he used to hold almost ten years ago. "He's looking all but certain to do it," said a Republican source close to Sanford, CNN reported. A formal announcement is soon to follow, the source said.

The seat, part of South Carolina's 1st congressional district, is being vacated by Republican Tim Scott who was appointed to the US Senate earlier this week by Gov. Nikki Haley as a replacement for resigning Sen. Jim DeMint.

The Washington Post reported that the move could pit Sanford against his ex-wife Jenny Sanford, former South Carolina first lady.

Jenny Sanford and Mark Sanford divorced after he famously admitted to a love affair with an Argentinian woman. Mark Sanford and his mistress are now engaged.

The race won't be just Sanford vs. Sanford. The State reported that the race is expected to be crowded. However, GOP sources close to Mark Sanford have no doubt the former governor will win by a landslide.
