Thousands have signed a petition calling for TV host Piers Morgan to be deported from the United States after he made some controversial comments on gun control.

The CNN host provoked gun owners in America after the Newtown shootings when he said to Gun Owners of America's executive director, Larry Pratt, "You're an incredibly stupid man, aren't you?"

"You have absolutely no coherent argument. You don't actually give a damn about the gun murder rate in the America."

Soon thereafter, someone posted a petition on the White House website claiming that Morgan "is engaged in a hostile attack against the US constitution by targeting the Second Amendment."

According to the Independent, the petition has over 31,000 signatures on it.

Morgan's response to the petition? To joke about it on Twitter: He asked if there were any other countries that would have him if he was deported from the US for wanting fewer gun murders.
