The parents of a little girl killed in the Sandy Hook shooting met with the killer's father.

Alissa Parker, whose daughter Emilie was among the victims, told "CBS This Morning" Thursday the meeting with Adam Lanza's father, Peter Lanza, was her idea as she believed it could help to bring closure, AP reported.

Six-year-old daughter, Emilie, blonde haired and blue eyed, was among 20 of her classmates in grade one who died in December's shooting rampage.

"I felt strongly that I needed to tell him something, and I needed to get that out of my system," Alissa Parker said.

"I felt very motivated to do it and then I felt really good about it and prayed about it. And it was something that I needed to do."

The Parkers asked Peter Lanza about his son's medical history, as well as his relationship with mother, CBS reported.

Details of when the meeting took place were not revealed.

Robbie Parker moved his wife and three daughters to Newtown eight months before the shooting after accepting a job as a physician’s assistant at Danbury Hospital, ABC News reported in December.

He said Emilie was his oldest daughter and loved school and helping others.

Since the tragedy Robbie Parker has been a vocal advocate for gun control, and has vowed to fight for changes to protect his family and the community.
