Who was at the Boston Marathon? Breakdown of runners by country and state (data)

The Boston Marathon is one of the world's largest sporting events. More than 23,000 runners were present at the time of the explosions.

More than 23,000 people from around the world set foot on Boston Marathon's 26-mile long race before the explosions shut down the internationally-celebrated event. Roughly 17,500 were recorded to have finished, according to data provided by The Boston Athletic Association.
