At least one person was killed in an explosion at a grain silo in Union Mills, Indiana, according to the local WSBT news.
The LaPorte County Sheriff's Department confirmed to the Associated Press that one person was killed at the Union Mills Co-op grain silo in northwest Indiana.
Sheriff Deputy Neil Lachmund told the AP the co-op has several grain and fertilizer storage units. Authorities issued a statement saying no chemicals had been released in the blast.
"The cause of the explosion is not yet known and it was believed that the victim, who is a Co-Op employee, was working in the silo at the time of the explosion," the Sheriff's Department statement said, according to WSBT.
Lachmund said everyone else has been safely account for but two people may have sustained injuries, CBS News reported.
