Two Bangladeshi television journalists, Sagar Sarwar and his wife, Meherun Runi, were found stabbed to death in the country’s capital, Dhaka on Saturday, the BBC reported.

The couple, both in their late 30s, were found in their apartment by their five-year-old son, who then called relatives that live nearby, the police said, the BBC reported.

It is unclear whether their deaths are linked to their career and a motive is still unknown. No valuables were found missing from their home either, the AFP reported.

The couple were well-known journalists in Bangladesh. Runi, 33, was a reporter for the country’s largest private television station, ATN Bangla, and Sarwar, 35, was a news editor for Maasranga TV, the AFP reported.

"The couple was stabbed to death sometime after Friday midnight,' deputy police chief Imam Hossain told the AFP. "We are still clueless about who committed the crime. We have launched a probe. Their bodies bore multiple stab wounds. It was a brutal killing." Hossain also added Sarwar’s hands and legs were tied.

Bangladesh’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina offered his condolences to the family and has ordered the police to find the killers, the Associated Press reported.

Sawar’s colleagues told the AP he worked late Friday night before he left the office to go home to his wife and son.
