Afghan officials said two children were killed when they accidentally triggered a hidden bomb while playing outdoors, reported The Associated Press.
The provincial governor’s office in Afghanistan's eastern Paktika issued a statement today saying the two were around 12 years old, said AP.

The statement said another child was injured in the explosion, which took place Sunday in the district of Surobi. A report by the Afghan Islamic Press said two children were wounded, one of which taken to Bagram Airbase for care.
The United Nations said 2011 saw more civilian casualties in Afghanistan than any other year of the war, listing more than 3,000 killed.
