"We've arrested Bazlus Samad, the chairman of New Wave Buttons and New Wave Style factories, and Mahmudur Rahaman Tapash, a managing director of one of these plants, after midnight," deputy chief of Dhaka police Shyaml Mukherjee told Agence France-Presse.

Al Jazeera said a third person was arrested alongside the two building owners, naming an engineer who was responsible for maintenance of the building, which killed more than 300 people when it collapsed after owners failed to evacuate its factories the day before at the request of police, who found cracks in the building during an inspection.
