A UK tourist in India was injured early on March 19th after she jumped from a balcony in Agra to escape an attempted sexual assualt.

The tourist, in her early 30s, was sleeping in a hotel room in Agra when men broke into her room at 4:00 AM, said the Times of India.

"She got frightened so she ran to the other end of the room and jumped out of the window," said Agra police superintendent Pawan Kumar to the Times.

The woman's legs were fractured, but no other information on the incident currently existed, wrote AFP. Agra is home to the Taj Mahal and a popular tourist destination.

Six men accused of raping and robbing a Swiss tourist in India last week were on trial March 18 in Datia district, located in India's central state of Madhya Pradesh.

"Our industry is the first casualty when crime against foreigners is reported in India, but the reporting does not always reflect the truth," said India Association of Tour Operators Gour Kanjilal to AFP.

"Tourists should be responsible. They should follow some do's and don'ts."
