They are believed to be connected with the Somali militant group al Shabaab.

One of the brothers was arrested in Aarhus, and the other after he arrived by plane at Copenhagen Airport.

Police ransacked two addresses before making the arrests, the Copenhagen Post reported.

Denmark’s Security and Intelligence Service, PET, said the men were preparing "a terrorist act," and had discussed potential targets, methods of attack and use of weaponry.

One man is suspected of having attending an al Shabaab training camp in Somalia, AFP reported.

The arrests come after Danish authorities in April apprehended three men accused of planning a terrorist attack and illegally possessing firearms.

PET has warned of an increased threat of terror since the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad in the Jyllands-Posten newspaper sparked riots in 2005 in many Muslim countries.
