Mock cannon explodes on Greek tour boat built to resemble a pirate ship.
A tour boat captain died and as many as six others were injured when a replica cannon exploded on a Greek tour boat today near the Aegean island of Kos, Reuters reported.
The boat was built to look like a pirate ship and the cannon held the same gunpowder used in fireworks.
The injured are two from the Netherlands, one from Belgium and two children from Germany, a coast guard official told Reuters.
“Their injuries are not life-threatening,” the official said.

A relative of the captain steered the 45-foot boat with 26 passengers aboard into port.
The injured children are age 7 and 9, The Associated Press reported.
The AP said six tourists, who included Greeks, aboard the ship were hurt.
The tour boat landed at the island port of Mandraki, the Merchant Marine Ministry told the AP.
