Alexandria's streets were flooded and some residents decided to break out the jet ski

A wave of cold weather has hit parts of the Middle East and North Africa. The winter storm, Huda, has been particularly deadly for Syrian refugees and Gaza residents who are still reeling from a deadly war with Israel that destroyed many homes this past summer. 

In Alexandria, Egypt's second city, unusually cold temperatures have led to heavy rainfall and sleet. Earlier this month, strong gusts of wind toppled the Ibn Khaldoun mosque's minaret. 

On Monday, sewage water and rain water flooded streets in the city's east, keeping thousands of residents stuck at home. Some residents saw it as an opportunity to bust out their jet skis and boats, as shown in the videos below:
