Iran says it has created a new radar-evading stealth fighter jet.

The Qaher F313 is the latest fighter jet Iran has unveiled since the Azarakhsh in 2007.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a ceremony on state television that it was "among the most advanced fighter jets in the world," reported BBC.

He said it will "conquer scientific peaks."

The announcement came at the heels of what Iran says was a successful launch of a monkey into space.

"Qaher is a fully indigenous aircraft designed and built by our aerospace experts," said the Iranian Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi, reported Sky News.

"This is a radar-evading plane that can fly at low altitude, carry weapons, engage enemy aircrafts and land at short airstrips."

GlobalPost wrote about reports recently that claim the space monkey launch may have been fake - a possibility that has made somesecond guess reports of the new stealth fighter.

Iran does not release the technical details of its new military technologies, with most simply appearing on state news channels.

Sky News reported that Iran began building its own military hardware since a Western weapons embargo that banned exports of military technology to the country.
