The Israeli military launched an air strike in Gaza this evening, killing one person and critically injuring another, the Jerusalem Post reported. Israeli officials said that the victims were Jihad terrorists from the Mujahadeen Shura Council, a group that had earlier claimed responsbility for a rocket attack on the Israeli town of Netviot on Friday night. "The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm the citizens of Israel and IDF soldiers, and will continue to act decisively and strongly against any acts of terrorism against Israel," the IDF said in a statement to the Post.

The air strike targeted a motorcycle in a busy street in the town of Jabaliya, BBC News reported. Palestinian doctors told the BBC that a child was also wounded in the attack.

IDF intelligence officials told Ynet that the two alleged terrorists hit in the air strike had been planning to carry out an attack against Israel during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers have kept an unwritten truce for the past four years, the Associated Press reported. But attacks have still occurred at a slower pace. Israel officials say that Gaza militants fired over 40 rockets at Israeli towns this month.
