Rupert Murdoch has apologized for his tweet Saturday night about the "Jewish-owned press" being "anti-Israel."

The News Corp. owner tweeted a sequence of comments about the coverage of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict that has been escalating in Gaza this week.

He is the latest personality to jump into the online fray. Kim Kardashian actually got far more outcry over her decidedly less controversial pairing of tweets: she first tweeted “Praying for everyone in Israel," and then tweeted that she was “Praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world!" JTA Jewish News Service reported. The reality star later issued an apology.

"(A)fter hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realized that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize,” she said in a statement.

Murdoch's apology wasn't as quick to come, and follows some backlash from journalists.

The Daily Beast's Pete Beinhart slammed Murdoch in a piece, writing that "Murdoch’s tweet is more than just dumb. It’s also offensive, both to journalists and Jews."

"Multiple sources on the internet allege that Rupert himself is a Jew/lizard, but I don't think that's what he had in mind," wrote Telegraph editor Damian Thompson. "I look forward to a full explanation in tomorrow's Times, which is – rightly – quick to expose the sort of anti-Semitism that harps on about Jewish control of the media."

Murdoch finally took to Twitter to apologize on Sunday.
