MONTREAL - CGI Group has been awarded US$50 million worth of contracts to implement a voter registration system in California and to manage invoices for telecom company Tele2.
The Californian contract will provide the state with a single, official system for voter registration in a four-year deal worth nearly $39 million.
The new system will contain information currently dispersed among states agencies and 58 county election offices.
A new public website will allow the public to register online and verify provisional and vote-by-mail ballot status.
CGI (TSX:GIB.A) will also manage Tele2's print and electronic invoice pre-processing operations in a five-year deal worth US$11 million.
Tele2 will outsource its entire billing department and buy the service from CGI, which is adding the Tele2 workers.
