Domtar completes purchase of U.S. baby diaper maker for $272M

MONTREAL - Domtar Corp. (TSX:UFS) says it finalized a $272-million deal to buy Associated Hygienic Products, a U.S. maker of store brand infant diapers.

Montreal-based Domtar says the purchase, from DSG International, dramatically increases its personal care segment's footprint and product range.

AHP has a 376,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Delaware, Ohio, and a 312,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Waco, Texas.

The company, with more than 600 employees and $320 million of annual sales, also has administrative offices and a distribution centre in Duluth, Georgia.

Domtar manufactures and sells a variety of wood fibre products including office, specialty and packaging papers and adult incontinence products.

The company had sales of US$5.5 billion from some 50 countries in 2012 and employs approximately 9,300 people.
