CALGARY - Alberta is opening another temporary housing project for people forced from their homes by the June flood.

The Municipal Affairs Department says the Great Plains temporary neighbourhood will open Tuesday in southeast Calgary.

Trailers in the Calgary project will be able to house up to 700 people who have been living in hotels or other accommodation since the devastating floods.

The department says the housing will help people as they rebuild their lives.

The government says more than 2,000 people are still out of their homes in southern Alberta.

That includes about 1,400 people who are living in temporary housing such as the Saddlebrook project in the town of High River.
