FREDERICTON - New Brunswick's Crown liquor agency will have a new boss next month.
The provincial government says Brian Harriman will be the new president and CEO of NB Liquor as of Feb. 1.
Harriman will take over for Daniel Allain, who was named to the position by Premier David Alward in 2010.
Alward says Harriman's appointment marks a change in that it is the result of the first public recruiting process for the position in NB Liquor's history.
Last year, the Tory government adopted a proposal to remove political influence in the hiring of the CEO by having the position chosen by the board of directors and not the government.
Harriman, a native of Miramichi, has more than 13 years' experience in the retail liquor industry, most recently with Diageo Canada and Molson Coors Canada.
