AMSTERDAM, January 17 (Reuters) - Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem said on Thursday he would formally put himself forward as a candidate for the chairmanship of the Eurogroup on Friday.
"I intend to present myself as a candidate tomorrow," he told Dutch lawmakers at a sitting of the parliament's finance committee.
The Eurogroup is expected to decide on Monday on who replaces outgoing chairman Jean-Claude Juncker and Dijsselbloem has been seen as the frontrunner for some time. (Reporting by Thomas Escritt and Gilbert Kreijger; editing by Patrick Graham)
