Fahey praises USADA exposure of Armstrong drug taking
LONDON (Reuters) - World Anti-Doping Agency president John Fahey praised on Tuesday the U.S. investigation which led to cyclist Lance Armstrong losing his seven Tour de France titles based on evidence which did not include a positive dope test. Armstrong finally confessed in a television interview last month that he had doped in each of the Tour victories after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) produced evidence it said proved he was a drugs cheat.
Wrestling in shock as IOC wields Games axe
LAUSANNE (Reuters) - Wrestling was left in a state of shock after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a surprise recommendation on Tuesday to drop the sport from the 2020 Games. Contested in the first modern Olympics in 1896 and part of the ancient Games in Olympia, wrestling will now join seven other candidate sports battling for one spot in a revamped program.

South Korean Park to get London Games soccer medal
LAUSANNE (Reuters) - South Korean footballer Park Jong-woo will receive his bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympics despite triggering a diplomatic row in a match against Japan, the International Olympic Committee said on Tuesday. The midfielder had held up a sign referring to a territorial dispute between South Korea and Japan while celebrating a 2-0 win over their fierce rivals in the bronze medal game in London in August.
Russian weightlifter stripped of Athens bronze
LAUSANNE (Reuters) - Russian weightlifter Oleg Perepetchenov was stripped of his 2004 Olympic bronze medal on Tuesday after a retest of his sample from the Athens Games returned positive for the banned substance clenbuterol. The International Olympic Committee demanded the return of his medal "as soon as possible" from the Russian Olympic Committee, spokesman Mark Adams told reporters.
