Cyprus socialists say wont support candidate in runoff

NICOSIA, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Cyprus's socialist party said on Tuesday it would not support either remaining candidate in a runoff vote scheduled on Feb. 24. in the Mediterranean island country.

"The positions (of the party) ... do not permit it to position itself in favour of a candidate in the second round of the presidential elections," said Demetris Papadakis, spokesman for the Socialist EDEK party. (Reporting By Michele Kambas; Editing by Michael Roddy)
