CF Peter Bourjos left Sunday's game after the third inning because of an injury to his left thumb. Bourjos hurt the thumb when sliding into Pirates SS Jordy Mercer trying to break up a potential double play. Bourjos had X-rays but results were not immediately available.

RHP Joe Blanton gave up three runs (one earned) and six hits in Sunday's game against the Pirates. The Pirates rallied to win the game against the Angels bullpen, so Blanton was denied his second win of the year. He did not walk a batter in the game, the sixth time he's done so in his 15 starts.

RHP Ryan Madson will go to extended spring training in Arizona and begin throwing again. Madson has endured numerous setbacks in his recovery from Tommy John surgery in April 2012.

LHP C.J. Wilson will make his 16th start of the season Tuesday against the Tigers. Wilson has won his last two starts, getting victories over the Yankees and Mariners.

2B Howie Kendrick went 2-for-5 Sunday against the Pirates and is now hitting .395 (32-for-81) in June, best in the American League (minimum 60 at-bats). His 32 hits are the most in the majors in June.

RHP Ernesto Frieri entered Sunday's game against the Pirates having retired in order the last 22 batters he had faced.
