"He pitched a solid game for us," manager Kirk Gibson said. Arizona starting pitchers have not won in the past 18 games -- Miley was the last to do so.
1B Paul Goldschmidt began the day as the league leader in RBI, and he hit an RBI double in his first at-bat to give him 67 RBI.
OF Adam Eaton began a new rehab assignment Wednesday, going 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI while playing for the Diamondbacks' affiliate in the rookie-level Arizona League. Eaton has been out all season due to a torn left elbow ligament, and he had to abandon a previous rehab assignment due to renewed discomfort.
LHP Patrick Corbin, who will start Thursday against Washington, is aiming to be the first Arizona pitcher to start the year 10-0. In his last two starts over 16 innings he has allowed three runs.
INF Willie Bloomquist was hit by a pinch from Tyler Clippard as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning Wednesday. Manager Kirk Gibson said the team will know how he is doing Thursday.
LF Jason Kubel fouled a ball off his shin in the seventh inning Wednesday. X-rays were taken but there was no immediate result. He has hits in nine of his last 11 road games, including a single Wednesday in the fourth inning.
2B Aaron Hill scored a run and was hitless in three at-bats Wednesday, his second game back from the disabled list. He broke his left hand when he was hit by a pitch in April by James McDonald of the Pirates.
INF/OF Martin Prado has hits in 17 of his last 19 games. He singled and drove in a run in the first inning Wednesday to give the Diamondbacks a 2-1 lead.
RHP Brad Ziegler has held opponents scoreless in 11 of 13 road games since May 6. Opponents were batting just .059 against him during that time.
