LHP Eric Surkamp, who had been recovering from Tommy John surgery on July 24, 2012, returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated off the 60-day disabled list. He was optioned to Triple-A Fresno but will not be added to the roster until he reports Monday and starts that night.

RHP Santiago Casilla, who has been on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 21 following surgery on a bone cyst in his right knee, faced hitters for the first time and threw 30 pitches. Depending how he feels Saturday, Casilla could begin a rehab assignment Sunday and throw one inning.

LHP Barry Zito is 0-5 with a 10.41 ERA in six starts on the road this season. He gave up 10 hits but just four runs in 5 1/3 innings, which dropped his road ERA this season from 11.28. In 10 starts at home, Zito is 4-1 with a 1.98 ERA.

RHP Matt Cain is 1-1 with a 2.03 ERA in his past four starts but was charged with the loss Sunday against Miami when he allowed three runs in six innings with no walks and eight strikeouts in the Marlins' 7-2 victory. After going 0-2 with a 6.49 ERA in his first six starts, Cain is 5-2 with a 3.53 ERA in his past 10 starts. He's 2-0 with a 6.35 ERA in two starts against the Rockies this year and has a six-game winning streak against them.

C Buster Posey, who had three of the Giants four hits and went 3-for-4, has reached base safely in each of his past 46 games against the Rockies, hitting .413 (69-for-167) with eight doubles, one triple, nine homers, 35 RBIs. He has hit safely in 11 straight games at Coors Field and in 25 career games there, Posey is hitting .423 (41-for-97) with five doubles, six homers, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
