SS Pedro Florimon hit his fourth home run of the season Wednesday in a 4-3 loss to the Rays at Tropicana Field. Florimon's two-run shot increased his RBI total to 28. All four homers have come from the left side of the plate against right-handed pitchers.

LHP Caleb Thielbar has held left-handers to one hit in 30 at-bats. The Rays were 0-for-2 against him on Wednesday in a 4-3 win over the Twins at Tropicana Field. After the game, he was placed on the bereavement list to attend his grandmother's funeral.

RHP Michael Tonkin was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to fill in while LHP Caleb Thielbar is on the bereavement list. Tonkin, 23, was 2-2 with 12 saves and a 1.85 ERA in a combined 35 appearances for Double-A New Britain and Rochester this season. He has no major league experience.

RHP Kevin Correia (6-6, 4.23) issued a season-worst five walks in a 4-3, 13-inning loss on Wednesday to the Rays. His six strikeouts were one short of a career high.

RHP Mike Pelfrey (4-6, 5.63) is expected to make his 16th start of the season on Thursday when the Twins conclude a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Pelfrey, who was reinstated from the disabled list (back strain) on July 4, has made just one career start against the Rays.
